Maple is a powerful interactive computer algebra system that provides a complete mathematical environment for the manipulation of symbolic algebraic expressions, arbitrary-precision numerics, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics, and programming.

Invoking

Maple is part of the maple module. This module is loaded by default on most SGI workstations at Notre Dame.

To start Maple:

  • Typing maple at a command prompt will start maple with a command line interface.
  • Typing xmaple at a command prompt will start maple with an X-window interface.
