Maple is a powerful interactive computer algebra system that provides a complete mathematical environment for the manipulation of symbolic algebraic expressions, arbitrary-precision numerics, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics, and programming.
Invoking
Maple is part of the maple module. This module is loaded by default on most SGI workstations at Notre Dame.
To start Maple:
- Typing maple at a command prompt will start maple with a command line interface.
- Typing xmaple at a command prompt will start maple with an X-window interface.
Getting Help
- The help menu in the upper left corner of the Xwindow interface.
- The help command in the command line interface.
- The Waterloo Software Company has a web site with extensive Maple information (including a frequently asked questions list). The site is located at http://www.maplesoft.com/.
Installation
Maple is available from Notre Dame AFS space in the maple module.
